Statement

My work explores using female presenting forms such as Greek/ roman classical statues with photography to create an ominous, timeless atmosphere. I create a disjointed view on the form that is usually seen as beauty personified, I do this by using my camera to remove this gaze upon the statues, shattering the ideology of what beauty is and reforming it by blurring the human figure. An artist who inspires my work is Cindy Sherman whose work looks at beauty and the grotesque of the Female Gaze.
