Statement

I use photography to investigate the role light plays, striving to create non-representational images. Exploring the relationships between light and materials, reflections and shadows come to the forefront. I employ transparent and reflective surfaces which assist in achieving distorted yet seductive image works. I physically zoom right up the edges of materials. Similar to mirrors, lenses and their qualities can reconfigure our perception, offering unfamiliar perspectives which can carry an element of abstraction within itself. I convert these 2-Dimensional materially led abstract scenes into photographic compositions, materializing the essence of light. In doing so, I explore the relationship light has and the presence it withholds within spaces and photographic objects.
