Statement

My practice investigates ideas surrounding trauma and the unconscious through the mediums of photography, video, performance and installation. Grounded in Jungian theories of the collective unconscious, my multidisciplinary approach engages with symbolism and everyday archetypes as a means of visually exploring the lasting effects of trauma and its manifestation in the body. This includes the shared experience of inherited trauma. Through the observation of synchronicities and the continuous cataloguing of symbols associated with everyday life, I create a personal archive that embodies the lived experiences of trauma and its effects on the brain, particularly hypervigilance and psychotic delusions. While this archive is rooted in personal experience, I also draw parallels between representations of the unconscious across art, literature, and religion.
