Statement

The author of this project, Ciara O’Riordan is a digital product designer and UX Researcher with a personal interest in breaking down bureaucratic processes through Service Design. In this exploration, the author explores how a Digitally Native generation navigates major life events – which are often made more challenging through complex and bureaucratic systems. Using the first-time home-buying process in Ireland as a case study, the work examines how service design can make these experiences more intuitive and human-centered. The outcomes include a digital companion app to guide first-time buyers through the journey in a way that reflects their technology-driven mindset, and a design framework offering principles for reimagining other significant life events. Together, these outputs aim to simplify complexity and empower people facing milestone transitions.
