Hi, my name is Edel and for my Final Year Project, I designed a book called ‘More Than a Diagnosis’, which tells the inspiring story of my sister, Danielle, and her journey living with Ring Chromosome 18, a rare genetic condition.

With this book, I aimed to highlight Danielle’s strength, resilience and hope beyond her medical challenges. From being told she would never walk or talk; Danielle has defied every odd stacked against her.

I wanted to shift the focus from her diagnosis to her spirit. My goal was to create not just a book but to highlight a message of hope for anyone who may face challenges and to remind people that our stories are shaped by our own spirit and not by the circumstances that we are born into.
