Statement

My work is about grieving and child loss. I’m using wool and fabrics to represent the purity and newness of having a child, making new untouched toys and gifts as a comfort. I want to create a safe environment for loved ones to enter and know that they are in a safe place. Making a heaven on earth to have the sense of some kind of relief and the connection between parent and child. This is an imaginary world, built in my mind of what I think a baby heaven would look and feel like. Attached are Irish words to connect my pieces to all the children that pass away in Ireland in the mother and baby homes.
