Statement

I am a painter primarily using symbols and colour as modes of communication. My paintings celebrate femininity, intuition and the unconscious realm evoking a sense of joy and freedom. Mythology, Jungian psychology, and alchemy each use symbols as a way to articulate deep and complex truths, and following my interest in these topics, I have come to use symbols in similar ways. I aim to communicate and celebrate the playfulness, mystery, joy, care, love, sensuality, wisdom and strength of femininity. The female is intuitive and deep and is at home in the unconscious realm of dreams and fantasies. These are largely where I find the inspiration for my paintings. My workings with physical materials such as paint and paper create balance and harmony between the unconscious and the conscious world through use of colour, pattern and composition establishing a satisfying and harmonized image.
