Aoife Nolan

Statement

This work explores physical, emotional, and intuitive interconnection. Inspired by nature and yogic practice, interior and exterior landscapes merge. Onsite research is integral to this work, supporting the practice of artist functioning as conduit between materiality and subject. Processes include: exploring copper, a metal found in earth and human tissue, known to conduct energy and enhance psychic abilities; indexing rock, earth’s surface; gathering, stitching and binding found organic material; and blending essential oils containing scent molecules known to calm the nervous system and aid in meditation. The resulting artwork is a physical translation of an emotional, sensory, intuitive, felt, experience of interconnection.
