Statement

My work is driven by the idea of intimacy, exploring themes of kink and horror to discuss identity through a distorted lens, showing how, when the body is fetishized, the line between human and commodity becomes blurred. A study in gratification and desire inspired by sleazy film and camp horror motifs. Though I use a range of methods to produce my work, I am mainly lens based as I feel a sense of control with a camera. While my work may be presented as ambiguous, I like for my practice to be dissected by those who feel impacted, piecing together the parts even if some don’t fit together. I want emotion to drive my work, and I do this by using the senses, with distorted imagery, mismatched audio and intimate lighting. There is an interactive quality to my work, which is reflected in the presentation and intricate installations.
