Statement

My work focuses on navigating abundance with influences from online media and waste material. I work with assemblages of chosen materials such as figurines, plastic, cardboard, tinfoil, and fabric, particularly second hand or unwanted. Hand-built ceramics are secondary, inspired by my assemblages to integrate them into a larger sculpture. I enjoy the flimsy nature of my work using glue and tape to secure, letting everything unify into a large mass. Overstimulated but undernourished is dedicated to my interest in how the internet is so full of stimulating content, trends and adverts yet is such a nothing burger to consume. Algorithms monopolise the basic currency of human connection, our attention. Attention is an exercise in free will as we give our time, effort, and faith into app algorithms. I aim to challenge personalised feeds that fracture shared reality, weakening common norms and trust in one another.
