Statement

My research explores the intricate beauty of the plants that thrive within Ireland’s most renowned natural sanctuary, Killarney National Park. I invite viewers to engage with nature on a deeper, more intimate level by looking at Killarney’s vegetation under a microscope.

Through my lens, I document the unseen world of some of Killarney’s flora through photography and drawing. This process captures the striking detail, exposing the fragile structures, vivid patterns, and hidden complexity of life on a microscopic scale. Each image acts as both a scientific inquiry and an artistic exploration, transforming the familiar into something extraordinary. I translate these drawings into delicate artworks crafted from a variety of materials, expanding their meaning through texture, form and medium.

My goal is to foster a greater appreciation for the small yet essential elements of our ecosystem, highlighting their vulnerability and the need for conservation. By shifting perspectives, I hope to inspire a renewed sense of wonder and responsibility for the rich biodiversity of Killarney National Park.
