My project explores the feeling of disconnection from your own native language. It is inspired by my brother’s decision to begin learning Irish for the first time in his twenties due to his exemption from the language when younger in school. This mixed media animation is shaped around his relationship with the Irish language which reflects the personal and cultural distance that he experienced from growing up to now. Through mixed media I attempted to visualise the nonlinear emotions of the feeling of disconnection.
