Statement
My artistic practice delves into the themes of domestic labour, the body and repetition. I investigate these concepts through research conducted within my immediate environment, specifically the home and the cyclical routines of motherhood. The work, which encompasses collage, drawing, paint, and installation, documents the symbols of daily life and never-ending to-do lists.
Through the depiction of the fragmented body, kitchen cupboards, domestic appliances and accumulated lists I aim to offer a playful and humorous insight into the unpaid, mundane and often overlooked labour within the home. The symbols of everyday objects, ever growing lists and fragmented body parts become a kind of archaeology of care. These are proof of days survived. My work shows humour found in exhaustion, chaos and ridiculousness; the never endingless of it all that we might as well laugh. These are not tragic images of overwhelm but are comedic monuments of survival.
