online, travellers often struggle to find trusted recommendations. This
project, “Developing Explainable AI (XAI) Strategies to Enhance User
Experience in AI-Based Travel Planning,” explores how Explainable AI (XAI)
can make AI-powered travel assistants more transparent, trustworthy, and
user-friendly. Using a mixed-methods approach—including interviews and
prototype testing—the study examines features like step-by-step reasoning,
confidence ratings, semantic labels, and transparent sources. The outcomes
provide practical guidelines to design AI travel tools that help leisure
travellers plan with clarity, confidence, and ease.
