Statement

My work asks the question “What are we made of?” creating a lens through which the viewer can witness the parts of ourselves which are imperceptible, highlighting the connection of our bodies with the cosmos. Through soft sculpture, wire and modelling paste sculptures, and sublimation print I speculate on the purpose for our being on this planet in these bodies. When making I render forms to appear as a continuous flow of body parts growing and evolving from themselves as I contemplate the mysteries of the body and soul. The skin is highlighted as a casing that encompasses the answers to our existence like a thin veil between our self- constructed realities and the truth to our existence. The body can be compared to a gordian knot, an entanglement of intricate structures, an unsolvable puzzle, a pulsing knot that is ready to burst and reveal to us its meaning
