My name is Conor Hogan and I am a filmmaker, writer & media producer from Kerry. I worked as a Director, Director of Photography & Editor on this documentary film, “The Truth Hurts”.

Davin Godfrey was just a child when he entered the HSE CAMHS (Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services) system, unaware that his childhood was about to end, and his life would change forever.

Now twenty-three, Davin is sharing his story for the first time on film. He details the powerful medications he was prescribed, the devastating and lasting effects on his mind and body, and his ongoing efforts to bring attention to issues within the system.

But Davin’s experience is not an isolated one. Many young people and their families have raised concerns about Ireland’s mental healthcare services. Now, Davin is determined to seek answers and advocate for change.

“The Truth Hurts” is a compelling exploration of a complex and urgent issue, told through the eyes of a young man striving to make his voice heard.
