Statement
From an early age, creativity and interactive media were always encouraged, and played a massive role in my life. Some of the earliest memories are of playing video games with my dad and becoming fascinated by the worlds, stories and experiences created. Outside of gaming, I was always building LEGO, painting or doing arts and crafts. All of these experiences naturally led me down a creative path. Throughout school, I pursued art and DCG/ Technical drawings (and business). These later expanded my skills through online courses in Adobe software. I always wanted to create fun, interactive experiences that can bring people together, make everyone laugh and create lasting memories. Studying Creative Digital Media has allowed me to turn my passions into a strong set of skills. Over the 4 years at MTU, I have developed strong communication, teamwork, leadership and creative problem-solving skills through collaborative projects, internships and student leadership. Alongside this, I have gained technical skills with industry-standard tools like Unreal Engine, Unity and the Adobe suite. My internship was a turning point for me as I was chosen to help create an educational video game aimed at a younger audience to educate and inspire through interactive learning at Tyndal National Institute. My final year project is a 2D side-scroller video game called Waltz of the Wastes, where the player is controlled by playing notes on a musical instrument. This was facilitated through the universal languages of music and environmental storytelling. What motivates me the most is the passion for creating and facilitating meaningful moments for others. My goal is to create memorable games and opportunities for experiences that bring friends, families and communities together. I want to give back by creating experiences that inspire the next generation, just as previous generations of games inspired me growing up.
