Statement
This project explores how online rental housing platforms can better support young renters navigating Ireland’s housing crisis. Current rental sites amplify stress through poor usability, unclear listings, and limited trust mechanisms, leaving many young people disadvantaged in competitive rental markets. Using a research-through-design approach, the study combines surveys, interviews, and prototype design and testing to investigate the needs of young renters facing scarcity. The resulting platform prototype emphasises community profiles, transparent listings, and accessible design to ensure fairness, trust, and guidance. By centering youth perspectives, the project contributes to reimagining digital housing infrastructures that prioritise equity, usability, and wellbeing.
